Fitted nappies are fully absorbent with the most popular styles made from natural fibres like bamboo, hemp and organic cotton. If you have a preference for natural fibres, fitted nappies provide you with a wide range of choice.

Shaped much like a disposable nappy, with gently elasticised legs and waist to create a snug fit.  They come in a range of fastenings, including snap buttons, hook-and-loop (such as Velcro, Aplix and touchtape) or Snappi fastening.  Fitted nappies may fasten at the front or the sides, which may suit some builds better than others.

The full body of the fitted nappy being made from layers of  bamboo and hemp fleece means that fitted nappies can be really absorbent  (which also means that they take longer to dry than other styles).

For waterproofness, fitted nappies require a separate cover that is most commonly PUL (polyurethane laminated polyester), minki, fleece or wool.  Without a cover, fitted nappies are the most breathable nappy choice.

A fitted nappy and a separate cover is an excellent combination for reliable leakproof containment, great for newborn poo-splosions!

Some fitted nappies are designed to fit right through from birth to toilet training (eg Baby Beehinds and Cute Tooshies)>while others are sized to fit a specific weight range.  The one size designs are very cost effective, particularly if you have a toddler and a newborn both in nappies.

The down side to fitted nappies is that they are more time consuming to put on, that they are often not as slim fitting as all in ones or pocket nappy options and that they take longer to dry, (you may need  extra nappies to allow for drying time especially in  winter).
